Shinji Muramoto

He has come far from his roots in Sapporo, Japan, to bring his unique style of food to such a small, albeit eclectic, place like Madison.

Shinji opened Restaurant Muramoto in February of 2004 after many months of renovation, most of the work being done by Shinji and a small group of friends. It was immediately held in high regard, even winning the Isthmus’ “Best New Restaurant” Award. Three years later, buoyed by the reputation of this first restaurant, Shinji opened his second, Sushi Muramoto, offering an expansive sushi selection and original entrees. His most recent restaurant 43 North is his first foray into Contemporary American Cuisine. You can expect even more in the future as he continues his commitment to great food and unique dining experiences.
